  • It’s official (well, not official official), employees have been writing in telling us and other news sources (CNBC) that Steve Jobs was back in fulll effect at work today. His car was in the lot, and he was walking through the Cupetino campus with a smile on his face. Good to hear.

Wozniak Says Steve Jobs Good To Go

by Jason Wilk on May 28, 2009

  • Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak said Steve Jobs sounds “healthy, energetic” a month before the CEO is expected to return to the company. Hopefully his statement is more legitimate than his dance moves. (Wall St. Journal)

3 Things To Know About WWDC This Year

by Jason Wilk on May 13, 2009

picture-101

No Steve Jobs

Earlier today (5/13) Apple announced that Phil Schiller will deliver the keynote for the WWDC event on 6/8. Steve is still expected to come back at the end of June and his name was not mentioned in todays release.

No New iPhones.

WWDC will focus on Snow Leopard, the latest Mac OSX addition. Many thought for months this would be the event which would see the new iPhone lineup. TinyComb expects Jobs to deliver the new iPhone or iPhones at the end of June or early July (Silicon Alley Insider on this hunch too). There is no point in taking any steam away from the new OS. The new iPhone is and will be one of the most anticipated products of the year and needs its own event.

No Tablet

Many have also believed Apple to introduce their touch screen tablet that was recently granted a patent licence. This will not make an appearance this June. Expect 2010.

Let Steve Tear His House Down?

by Jason Wilk on April 29, 2009

  • Last night further hearings took place to decide the fate of Steve Jobs’ home. The Apple CEO has been trying to tear down his Woodside home for many years, a dilapidated mansion that many activists believe to be a historic landmark. Preservationists came from as far away as Florida and Virginia to make their case for saving the home (must be huge PC fans). The 17,000-square-foot house, built in 1925 for the prominent copper miner Daniel C. Jackling, is said to be economically infeasible to reconstruct (the activists want the home moved to a new location and have Jobs front the bill)
  • Last night Jobs’ team showed how much plans to restore the home would cost, roughly $13.3 million, quoting The Court of Appeal, which suggested a  $5 million differential would be enough to show that the restoration was infeasible. A decision is to be delivered shortly. (Mercury)

Apple Cracks Fortune’s Top 100 List

by Jason Wilk on April 20, 2009

  • Apple has been a Fortune 500 company since 1983. In 1995, it fell out of the top  100 while Jobs was running NeXT. This year, Apple jumped 32 spots this year to No. 71, mostly due to financial woes of some major organizations, but also because revenues grew 35.3% to $32.479 billion in 2008. Hewlett-Packard came in at No. 9, Dell at No. 33 and Microsoft (MSFT) at No. 35.

Apple’s Fortune placements in the last two decades:

2009: 71
2008: 103
2007: 121
2006: 159
2005: 263
….
1995: 123
1994: 67
1993: 76
1992: 81
1991: 95
1990: 96
1989: 114
