- According to BGR, this is an internal document from Sprint outlining all their product release dates for 2009. Just as we thought, the Pre will not be getting any delays from Apple patent pressure. The phone is set to jump onto shelves March. 15th. There hasn’t been a phone coming out of Sprint with this much Hype since….never. I’m expecting big lines for the new phone. Here is the memo below:

- Could Nokia be releasing an answer to the G1, Storm, or iPhone? Who knows, but either way they’ve launched a countdown site to get you all excited.
- Scoble rolled into Spain for the Nokia World Conference, and if he’s being honest about his conversation with a Nokia exec, then looks like were in for quite an announcement.
- The exec he talked to peppered him with statements like “…the Internet has no clue what they will announce this week” and “this is one of the only times he can remember when a big announcement has not leaked.”
- No matter what happens, this device better live up to expectations, or Nokia’s going to have some serious trouble keeping up with Apple/Rim in the smart phone department.

Upsides:
- 3 pounds
- Less than an inch thick.
- 1280 x 800 resolution 12-inch screen (Thanks for this Dell, 9 inch Screen is too small, even for a netbook)
- 1.6GHz Atom Z530 Silverthorne-class processor
- ‘Dell Dock’. Looks like Apple’s Doc
- Full size keyboard.
Downsides:
- Windows
- No CD/DVD drive.
- 1GB of ram (Netbook users aren’t heavy downloaders, and the ones that do get cloud or external storage)
- Takes 2 minutes to get to the Vista homepage and 4 minutes before everything is done loading. I thought the original theory behind netbooks was you could practically flip them on in seconds? Lied to again.
It’s a good overall offering and the price is at or under $600. I’m seriously considering getting this computer. I wanted the Dell mini 9, but the screen and half sized keyboard was just too small.

- Beverly Hills based, SpotRunner, who has raised $111M to bring ‘web to TV’ advertising for local companies, is expected to lay off 75 employees come Monday.
- SpotRunner’s lofty goal for the year with the capital was to lead it to an IPO. They convinced their current CFO Sam Paisley this year to jump ship from ValueClick to manage the process. Looking like this will not happen now
- I ran into two SpotRunner employees today out and about in Santa Monica and they said overall feeling inside the company is very somber.
- Maybe they should have used Calacanis’ model of fire them quick and all at once. Don’t let it leak and drag out, which leads to a decrease in performance. We’ll keep you posted.
