- Wednesday is T-Mobile’s big day with the launch of the G1 Android Phone.
- They have already sold out the 1.5M pre-orders for the phone and 2M more are expected to hit stores in a few days.
- But, what about iPhone users? Will we see anyone switch carriers to get the G1 and will T-Mobile users that have a jailbroken iPhone switch over?
- T-Mobile has made the price point cheaper both initially ($179 for the G1) and the data plan is also cheaper than the iPhone ($25 data plan)
- Even though it sounds cheaper, if I were to get rid of my iPhone, would mean me having to ditch my music player too. Majority of iPhone owners use the phone as their primary music player due to the iPod integration. Remember, Steve Jobs sold the phone as three revolutionary technologies built into one device. The G1 will be missing one of those revolutionary technologies with their less than impressive music player and anyone who switchers over will have some getting used to. So, is the music player enough to protect Apple from users switching over? It certainly is a good enough reason for me.
