- For almost a year now, Sprint and Clearwire have been in an out of an attempt to build a nationwide wireless network based off WiMAX.
- The service boasts a huge goal of supplying 140 million users with wireless broadband within the next 30 months.
- Along with approving Verizon’s acquisition of Alltel, the FCC has approved the Sprint/Clearwire deal.
- In total, the joint effort comes at a price tag of $14.5 billion.
Now that they’ve got the FCC’s approval, will this deal actually come to fruition or continue the on-again, off-again nature that has characterized the joint venture for almost a year?
