- Last May, Facebook released Facebook Connect to developers and now CBS’s celeb gossip site TheInsider will trial the system, which allows users to sign in with their Facebook login and for their activity to report back into their fb news feed.
- Facebook Connect will supposedly/hopefully replace the much ballyhooed and unsecure Beacon advertising/facebook user tracking platform.

- Beacon, Facebook’s project that publishses actions users take on outside participating sites to the user’s newsfeed, appears to be making a comeback.
- The program was made famous last December for ruining any element of surprise for peoples’ Christmas gifts nationwide, and Facebook phased it out after lots of consumer backlash.
- Blogger/Facebook developer Jesse Stay has noticed signs of life from the program.
- Currently, CBS looks to be the only participator.

- Doesn’t look like it, but apparently CBS has somehow swayed Facebook to bring back Beacon, the advertising platform that caused havoc for the Zuck.
- When you sign up for a CBS app of any kind now, the old Beacon pop-up appears attempting to authenticate you and lure you to ‘learn more’.
- CBS seems to be the only partner that has embraced the platform again. We will see how many more they can sign up before the next Facebook revolt happens.
- Facebook is already having a current backlash with the Old vs New Facebook design, which already has 20,000 votes over at tinyMash for users preferring Old.
