  • SlideRocket is a collaborative online presentation application that produces slideshows similar to PowerPoint in the cloud.
  • As they leave public beta, they have launched a new feature set that will start producing revenue for the 2 year old company.
    • They will now allows users to purchase assets for their projects include licensed stock photos through a partnership with Fotolia, graphics and backgrounds from PresentationPro, and printing/delivery through Mimeo. They are calling it an “iTunes For Presentations”
  • The company competes with Animoto, 280 North, Empressr, and Zoho
  • They have raised $2M to date (12/07) from Hummer Winblad Venture Partners

Flowgram Makes Web Presentations Easy

  • Flowgram lets you string together many types of multimedia files to create a web-based presentation others can view with no downloading required.
  • File types supported: PowerPoint presentations, web pages, RSS feeds, photos, text and audio files.
  • Audio narration feature lets you record yourself to walk viewers through the presentation.
  • Currently video is not supported, nor are presentation formats other than PowerPoint (such as Apple’s Keynote).
  • Service works well, but could use a speed boost.
  • Competes in the same space as Animoto.

Animoto Makes Your Slideshow A Professional Video

  • Animoto comes out of beta today. The site turns user-uploaded pics into custom, professional-looking videos that move to whatever music you pair them with.
  • Offers multiple distibrution points from the site, including easy uploading to YouTube.
  • Earlier this year, Animoto received funding from Amazon
  • The company has premium services aimed at business users and school teachers (the latter can use them free of charge) that ~10% of its users are taking advantage of
