Twitter CEO Says Revenue Coming in Q1

by John Jorgensen on December 3, 2008

  • Evan Williams, Twitter CEO, says the service is on track to turn on a revenue stream in Q1 of ‘09.
  • Williams: “I don’t want to raise money in 2009.”
  • Twitter is reportedly in talks with “large consumer packaged good companies.” So… basically this could be anything.
  • Will Twitter crack the code? Can’t wait to see what they come up with.
  • Williams must have faith in the model: Twitter recently turned down $500 million in stock from Facebook.

  • Splitweet is a new, useful tool for “heavy & corporate” Twitter users.  They provide three main features:
  • The ability to post to multiple Twitter accounts through a single entry box.
  • Users can track whenever their brand is mentioned on twitter, and who posted it.
  • Finally, people using splitweet can also see tweets from anyone following them.
  • Seems pretty useful.

Six Apart Buys Kevin Rose’s Pownce

by Jason Wilk on December 1, 2008

images-1
  • Six Apart, the blogging platform company, is buying Twitter clone Pownce
  • Co-founder Leah Culver and full-time employee Mike Malone will join Six Apart to help with new products. As for the Pownce product, it is supposedly being shut down.
  • SixApart either bought Pownce for their technology and intelligent management or they are just going to bring it back to life with a better focus to take down Twitter.
  • Most likely they will bring back the Pownce brand, but develop some micro-blogging integrations into SixAparts platform that go hand in hand with what Powence will relaunch as.
  • No word on the price. We just know it’s another pay day for Digg founder, Kevin Rose.

Share Videos On Twitter With FFWD

by David Heyerman on November 27, 2008

  • Video aggregating service, ffwd, just added a few useful features, including a bookmarklet Twitter addicts are sure to be excited about.
  • Anytime you find a video worth sharing, simply click the bookmarklet and the clip is automatically shared through your Twitter stream.
  • Users can also add their Twitter streams to their ffwd profile, thus creating their own customized TV channel that other ffwd users can subscribe to.
  • I’m not sure if this feature will revolutionize Twitter in a viral video sense, but nonetheless it’s good to know the sharing option is available.
