First Solar, “Keep Them Utility Contracts Comin!”
by David Heyerman on August 19, 2009

- Industry leader, First Solar, just announced yet another huge utility contract with Southern California Edison.
- The contract will consist of two solar photovoltaic plants, which together will generate a capacity of 550MW.
- Alongside the contracts First Solar’s locked in thus far (see below), they’ve also achieved such milestones as lowering production costs to under a $1 per watt and feeding energy into the grid at a cheaper cost than coal.
- First Solar never seems to disappoint in the announcement arena, but hey, what happened to all the controversy regarding the recent Optisolar contract purchase?
