United States Leading The Pack In Wind Power Generation

- Secretary Chu of the Department of Energy just announced that 42% of last year’s new energy capacity was fed into the grid by wind power.
- Wind projects took on a total of $16 billion in investment in 2008, making the US #1 in added wind capacity for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
- On a by-state basis, Texas took the number one spot with a total of 7.12 GW installed, followed by Iowa with 2.79 GW and California with 2.52 GW. Seven other states now have over 1 GW installed, while 13 more have just over 500 MW.
- Wind Power’s added 8.56 GW of new electricity to the grid and has created 8400 new jobs in the process. Go wind. Go.
