United States Leading The Pack In Wind Power Generation

Secretary Chu of the Department of Energy just announced that 42% of last year’s new energy capacity was fed into the grid by wind power.
Wind projects took on a total of $16 billion in investment in 2008, making the US #1 in added wind capacity for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
On a by-state basis, Texas took the number one spot with a total of 7.12 GW installed, followed by Iowa with 2.79 GW and California with 2.52 GW. Seven other states now have over 1 GW installed, while 13 more have just over 500 MW.
Wind Power’s added 8.56 GW of new electricity to the grid and has created 8400 new jobs in the process. Go wind. Go.
