Of course, you can slap solar panels on the side or roof of your building, but if you really want efficiency, this seems like it may be the best option currently.
The Almeisan Tower, which is planned for Za’abeel park in Dubai will integrate a relatively typical solar thermal setup. The circular roof will rotate to focus a series of mirrors and the top of the tower, vaporizing the water pumped into the tower, thus spinning a turbine.
The building itself will house a children’s library, cafe, observation deck, and community meeting spaces. Even better, the project boasts it will produce enough energy to power itself and several neighboring buildings.
Definitely an application I’ve not seen before, but nonetheless solid in its intentions. Now, lets just see if it gets built.
