Spotted: First In Line for The Pre

Damn, I’m impressed. One of our readers just sent over some photos showing what is now being confirmed as the first person in line for the Palm Pre (and no, it’s not Greg Packer). The linesitter, who did not provide a name, said “I’ve been so disappointed with Sprint since my parents got me a plan three years ago. I hear there is only going to be 4 phones at each spot, and I’m GETTING MINE!”. Does this guy realize it’s Monday and the phone doesn’t go on sale until Saturday?
If anyone else sees Pre lines beginning to build, send over some shots!

What a looser...what???Why?? is he a fan boy or really bad with math and figuring to turn a profit on ebay?

He's smart. If he can pick one of the first few Pres, he can eBay it and turn a very nice profit. If this guy is on vacation, out of work or just waiting on-line for somebody else then it doesn't really make him a loser since only he knows his situation. I wouldn't do it, but that's because I don't want a Pre, but if somebody paid me to wait, I would probably consider it. The Pre is going to be in short supply for some time, so it makes sense to get on line if you want to be one of the first few to get one.

This store will not even get any. Only real Sprint Stores (corporate), Best Best storres, Radio Shack Stores.

Wow. I'm a big fan of the Palm Pre (hence the nick) but even I wouldn't do that. That's nuts.

I have been wondering when this would happen. for the iphone, the store had that one guy.. what.. 100hrs before? Was just a matter of time before the pre had the same.

It's not a Corporate one. It's an authorized Sprint Reseller. Just not sure if they will see any Pre phones.

Hey All. I'm actually friends with the guy waiting in line. His name is Jonatan. I called him when I saw this and he assured me that he's going to wait the couple of days for this phone, he's super crazy about it! I can even quote him saying "I don't care how many times I poo and pee my pants, I'm getting this phone!"

Craigslist is about to get busy with people looking to hire someone to sit out for a Pre. What would you say is the going price.. 5.00 an hour. Five days X 24 hours = 600.00. How about 100.00 a day? 7 5 days 500.00? Hum it is starting to sound like a bargain to me. Watchout CL's in Virginia beach.

come on already... this is ridiculous. I'm excited just as much as anyone else about the Pre but give me a break already. So what if you don't get the phone right away, as if we didn't wait months already for the device to come to Sprint - we cannot wait a little more? Really... is it that necessary to have it first? Besides, how about buying one online from one of the retailers if you're that concerned. Or go to an un-populated area where it probably won't sell out. Absolutely one of the silliest things I've seen yet....

It looks like a shabby reseller store. It would have been better to wait a real Sprint store. Just in case they don't get the phone.

And how would he make a profit?? He still has to pay the 2 year contract (24 * $99.99) I doubt he can sell it on ebay for the $2,600 it would take to break even.

Jerry, Joe is not the idiot here, you are. Sprint will be releasing to their retail stores first plus Radio Shack, some Walmarts, Best Buy, this guy is sitting in front of an authorized dealer...not the same thing.
