AT&T Says Goodbye to 12,000 Employees

  • AT&T is slashing 12,000 jobs (4% of its workforce).
  • Cuts will begin this month and extend into ‘09.
  • Severance packages will add up to $600 million.
  • Says they plan to beef up wireless, video and broadband departments.
  • After Adobe’s similar announcement yesterday, expect to see more of these as the holiday season rolls on.
