Quit Trying To Be A Proprietary Software Company Amazon, Focus On Distribution

  • Amazon is missing the holiday season for the launch of their Kindle 2.0
  • The bigger, slimmer, better Kindle, which will also release an ever larger screen student version in mid 2009, will be launching first quarter Q1.
  • Should Amazon be so keen on not licensing out the platform to other manufacturers to fend off competitors and focus on increasing distribution instead? Considering that eBook readers will be a huge market play for many manufacturers trying to enter the game including Sony, it might be more worth it for Amazon to play the part of iTunes and not the part of the iTunes/iPod package deal. Not to mention (and this is a big mention), Amazon is not a proprietary software company, an OS one nonetheless.
