Dell’s Highly Anticipated 12 Inch Netbook Arrives. Good Reviews

Upsides:

  • 3 pounds
  • Less than an inch thick.
  • 1280 x 800 resolution 12-inch screen (Thanks for this Dell, 9 inch Screen is too small, even for a netbook)
  • 1.6GHz  Atom Z530 Silverthorne-class processor
  • ‘Dell Dock’. Looks like Apple’s Doc
  • Full size keyboard.

Downsides:

  • Windows
  • No CD/DVD drive.
  • 1GB of ram (Netbook users aren’t heavy downloaders, and the ones that do get cloud or external storage)
  • Takes 2 minutes to get to the Vista homepage and 4 minutes before everything is done loading. I thought the original theory behind netbooks was you could practically flip them on in seconds? Lied to again.

It’s a good overall offering and the price is at or under $600. I’m seriously considering getting this computer. I wanted the Dell mini 9, but the screen and half sized keyboard was just too small.
