Remember: Ad Rank = Cost Per Click bid × Quality Score

  • How To Increase Quality Score:
  • Make sure the historical clickthrough rate (CTR) of the keyword and the matched ad on Google is high.
  • Choose which keywords you want to use in your campaign wisely. Google will measure what percentage of your ads are clicked on that are relevant to your keywords. Meaning don’t use keywords that are false or will get you potentially misleading traffic.
  • Keep you keyword list precise, don’t just write down whatever you can think of.
  • Check historical CTR of the display URLs in the ad group
  • Pick your region carefully. Start out with the regions that you know will get you the highest clicks.
  • The relevance of the keyword and the matched ad to the search query

Why is this important? Well QualityScore now more than ever is important for the rank of youd ad. Google has now announced that that ads with a competitive bid and high quality score can have a good chance of displaying in the prime spots above search results, where premier traffic is driven.
