Sports Blogs Networks Takes My Incubation Model For The Sports World
by Jason Wilk on October 29, 2008

- Sports Blogs Nation has just secured $3.5M for its network of professional sports blogs. A former AOL exec has joined them in their efforts as well.
- SBN has more than 150 seperate team-specific blogs that they have either partnered with or put someone in charge of.
- They provide the blogs with similar templates, swap equity with them, get first dibs at acquiring or distributing their content, promote each of them and share the proceeds (ad rev)
- Its a similar model to what I reccomended the Blogger and Podcaster Media Network do last night. The only problem is, unless they have every sports team covered, they aren’t a very valuable place to go to (theyre dreaming if they think they can) Also, why isn’t the homepage delivering more fresh content that looks like a newspress as opposed to just looking like an aggregator? Also, this project may take more manual work than they once thought. I could see a ‘blogger for hire’ sign coming out of their offices very soon.
