Akamai Buys Acerno To Help Retailers Sell You Pencils

by Jason Wilk on October 21, 2008

  • Today Akamai announced their $95 million acquisition of acerno, a subsidiary of database marketing firm i-Behavior.
  • Acerno aggregates consumer puchasing data from retailers and in turn uses the info to better serve ads to particular people. So, if you buy a pencil on Staples.com, the next time you visit to buy something else, you may get a pencil ad served to you.
