Average Internet Users Confused by OpenID

by John Jorgensen on October 15, 2008

  • The results of a recent OpenID usability study conducted by Yahoo revealed that normal internet uses don’t know WTF OpenID is and can’t figure out how to use it.
  • Granted, the study was only ran with nine people, albeit “Yahoo users in their thirties who considered themselves of medium-to-high internet savvy.”

Did this surprise anybody? I would guess that most internet users still don’t know what RSS is, let alone OpenID.
