Price Caps, Ad Volume Restraints And A Hall Monitor For The Google/Yahoo Deal

by Jason Wilk on October 14, 2008

  • The Department of Justice is moving forward negotiations with Google and Yahoo concerning the ad deal, but discussing many restrictions over the deal.
  • They want to see a volume cap of Google ads Yahoo would use, a price cap on ad costs once the deal were to go through, a guarantee Yahoo would continue to compete in search ads and a monthly checkup to report on what is happening with the deal and around the search market.
  • Once Google can get these restrictions lessened, I think the deal will go through.
