Why Microsoft Should Buy ‘FriendsForSale’ App To Boost LiveSearch

  • FriendsForSale is the social game that let’s you buy and sell your friends on Facebook
  • Other than gaining a profit from selling your current inventory of friends, users gain points to buy their friends by filling out affiliate offers from companies like Blockbuster, etc.
  • The company, which has raised $4M thus far and is on their way to developing 2 more ‘Serious Games’, confirmed last month on Sept. 6th that they indeed are making $1M a month in revenue.
  • Enter Microsoft. They just announced their LiveSearch integration into Facebook.
  • Outside of Facebook, LiveSearch now offers performance incentives like airline miles, prizes, etc. when users rack up enough daily points for using their service over Google or Yahoo.
  • If Microsoft buys FFS, they can offer points incentives for the 3,106,891 active users currently using the service who could use LiveSearch over Google/Yahoo to gain more points to buy their friends.
  • In an age where young crowds can move mountains, this is a great demographic to take over in the right setting to increase search market share.
  • Not to mention, Microsoft could keep the core affiliate business in tact to produce revenue out of the app, LiveSearch can just be an ever going points accumulator for those that use LiveSearch.

  • Sorry Greg. Never heard of this social app being controversial. It's a game, it's addictive, it makes money and it has affiliate incentives for millions of young users to begin using LiveSearch. Do I actually think they will buy it? No.

    Microsoft would never buy an app that involves what a portion of the population would consider controversial topic of putting different values on different people.
