eBay Buys Its Danish Counterpart and Finally Buys BillMeLater

by Jason Wilk on October 6, 2008

  • eBay has acquired Blue Avis, the free Danish newspaper company that owns DBA, the “eBay of Denmark” for $383 million
  • DBA has been around since 1995 and has about 1M unique visitors a month.
  • They have 275,000 new listings per day
  • Ebay has also acquired BillMeLater, and announced 10% layoffs
  • BillMeLater is an acquisition that has always thought would happen by eBay. The site’s aim is exactly how it sounds. Buy things online and pay for them later @ BillMeLater.

With a struggling eBay in the US along with a credit crisis, how would you rate these purchases?
