RealDVD Gets Home Field Advantage In Hollywood Lawsuit.
by Jason Wilk on October 4, 2008

- Last week Real Networks launched their Real DVD software which lets you rip DVD’s onto your hard drive, which can act as your digital media server (or your own Apple TV)
- The suit, which was filed by all the major studios, will be heard in Silicon Valley due to Real Networks first mover advantage in filing a suit against Viacom and the DVD Copy Control Assn for rights to the launch the service.
- I don’t see any harm in the service, however it most likely won’t see it through the court, even in Silicon Valley. Real has too old a name and is on the radar of those worthless mid-level executives of Hollywood keeping an ‘eye’ out.
