Microsoft Live Search Announces Search Perks

by David Heyerman on October 1, 2008

  • Microsoft just announced that they”ll be unrolling a new, incentive based user experience incorporated into their Live Search engine called Search Perks.
  • Microsoft plans to allow a maximum of 250,000 users into the program who will download a destop based counter, tallying their use of Live Search.
  • Search Perk tickets are awarded to users browsing with Live Search and when accumulated, can be used as currency for music downloads (25 tickets/song), sky miles (500 tickets/1000 miles), and even for charitable donations.

Will this “pay the user” idea really work in the end for Microsoft?
