Familybuilder Announces Low Cost DNA Tests

by David Heyerman on October 1, 2008

  • Family tree building site, Familybuilder, has quickly grown into a gigantic network of over 20 million people.
  • They’ve just announced that starting on the 15th of October, DNA testing will be available for it’s users.
  • The tests are mail-in based and cost $59.99, a low price compared to competitors like Ancestry.com’s $149 charge.
  • Users will receive maternal (maDNA) and paternal (yDNA) information as well as a finite look back in time.

Did you read the fine print in their terms of service and privacy policy? They plan to sell/rent their new DNA Database to the highest bidder once they get suckers like you to pay to test. They do not plan to sell outside the USA because most European countries would never let a policy like this by.
