Social Network Profiles Double This Year To 500 Million

According to Wink, the people search engine, 500 million social profiles worldwide have been indexed.
This number is double what it was at last year.
Use Wink to search someone’s name and automatically see what kind of presence they have online. You can even create a Wink profile that describes your online life, shows people what sites you are a member of, blogs you own, etc.
I really don’t understand why I need a search engine for people, when vanity searches on Google work just fine. Thanks for the stats though!
