PulsarBox: Roll Your Own Mobile Social Network
by John Jorgensen on September 22, 2008

- PulsarBox allows you to create your own mobile social network across any J2ME phone.
- Content is created via a desktop app (Windows only, download here) that provides an easy, intuitive editor — no developer skills necessary.
- Once content is viewed from the phone it is stored in the device (no internet connection required to access it).
- Polls, surveys, forms and message boards are supported. RSS updates available.
- Tiny commentary: Useful for now, but I find it hard to believe Ning doesn’t have a mobile strategy. PulsarBox beat them to the punch, but their first mover advantage won’t last if Ning creates similarly easy development software that mobilizes their feature-rich networks.
