Microsoft’s Poor Attempt At Travel. TripAdvisor Laughs

by Jason Wilk on September 20, 2008

  • Microsoft backed, PlanetEye, currently paralyzed at 15,000 unique visitors a month (comscore) launches new features today.
  • ‘Packs’ is the new feature that is very similar to a ‘List’ created by Yelp users when they want to tell you about their favorite places, shopping routes, etc.
  • Browse through travel locations, restaurants, sights, etc. and easily add each of them into your ‘Pack’.
  • Share your ‘Pack’ with your friends and family, or just have it up for the good of the community.
  • I’m not saying it’s not a cool feature, but this is not the stellar user experience development that is going to launch PlanetEye into the TripAdvisor hall of fame.

  • Just to be clear, Microsoft is a major shareholder in PlanetEye and provided some great technology but Microsoft is not involved in PlanetEye's day-to-day operations.
  • It's backed by Microsoft, now owned and operated. Who made you the Travel God?

Oh Yeah, who started Expedia...duh let me tel you.. it was Microsoft, who owns TripAdvisor, let me say Expedia...quit your stupid trap little one...

Microsoft spends money in thousands of companies, why? Because it can, and it knows that it's odds are 1-10 and it always comes to the top, but i am biased, I live in Seattle.
