Embarrassed Of Your Friends? Try Yahoo’s New Social Network

by Jason Wilk on September 19, 2008

  • Yahoo is launching a new social network aimed at high school and college students in India.
  • Prime demo is 16-24. School and age verification doesn’t seem to scare them.
  • To ‘virally’ (hate that word now) spread the word, Yahoo has revealed some of the social network’s luring features.
  • SpotM is the first social network that allows you to make the friends you don’t want to be seen private.
  • It is also the first to have SMS integration with anonymous chat, which will let users reply via SMS with a private number.
  • This move seems a bit risky for Yahoo as privacy concerns have yet to hit hard in India like they have in the US. They don’t want to be the one to break that.
