you guys dont have a say. do you pay to use facebook? NO. so STFU and stop complaining. if you want a social networking site that you have to pay for try e-harmony.

I'm more than ready to leave Facebook. The latest changes to the format and options within it are arbitrary. There should be options for all of these changes and since they (facebook) doesn't seem to give a damn these days we all need to find a new place. SOOOOO someone please post new options and something new besides My Space. Perhaps we need a loose network of community hubs where each hub votes/designs its own format options.

I just started using facebook a few weeks before the change and the old was easier to use.

This is just ridiculous. This is more work than fun. It was easy to find what you needed. now it's just a post for spam! Please take this shit off and return it to the way it was. Who is it out there that decides that FB needs to change anyway? I left using Myspace to FB because it was easy in the first place. Now they both suck!

i don't like new facebook cause i have problems getting to apps and some times when i add new friends a week later they are not on my friends list anymore and it is not cause of them taking me off or me taking them off cause when i find them again i ask them what happened and they don't know what happened i would like old facebook back cause i never had these problems with the old facebook

Facebook has become yet another way for people to pass on more chain mail material. If I receive one more "(lil) Green Patch" request I may just pull my computer out of the surge protector and throw it out the window.

I joined 2 days ago. I can't upload photos. I have heard there are quizzes and polls, but where? I also see friends have other kinds of lists than the one's offered. None of this is self-explanatory which is strange for a site that offers no support or even a way to alert them that it is not possible to upload photos so they can fix it. I looked on Youtube to see if Henry Rollins or Eddie Izzard had a good rant about Facebook. Somebody should.

Old fb was what drew me away from myspace. It was easy to use, open to creativity, and the user had a place to showcase individuality. We could easily create apps and it was so much fun that I soon became a fb addict. Now, EVERYTHING that I loved about fb is gone. It's more work than pleasure. A profile page with file tabs??? What are we, file clerks? Newsfeed info, line after line and large chunks of white space as opposed to family photos, artwork, quizzes, my selected polls, etc. I spent countless enjoyable hours individualizing my little profile page. All that is now tucked away where even I have to spend loads of time hunting them up, and when before I was on fb at least once per day, I haven't used it for weeks. And, that will continue until someone comes up with a new site that was like old fb and one on which I can enjoy all the benefits I used to get with old fb. This isn't about resistance to change -- we used old fb because of what it had to offer us. If the fb developers made truly useful changes that didn't at the same time trash what we loved about old fb, I would have been one of the first to salute them and support these changes. Instead, they offered us a fb changling that is obnoxious, unwieldy, unattractive and impersonal. And, they apparently are impervious to what any of us have to say about it. Out with the old fb supporters, and in with the new (who won't be dedicated like we were). Very sad. Advertisers, take note. We are flocking away from this new fb in mass numbers.

The new FB isn't as sociable as the previous format. Now you have to go digging behind all kinds of pages like an expert to just get an idea of what your friends are up to. It's just plain ridiculous. Give us a break, please! Some of my friends, whose time is limited, aren't even coming to FB any more. BUMMMER!!!

Yeah, just when I discover Facebook isn't just for rich college kids anymore, I sign up, connect with some friends and figure out how all this works. Then they throw this more complicated, user-unfriendly, and worst of all, less concise version on us.
The way I have dealt with it is inviting my Facebook only friends to join me on Myspace (no one, not even me really wants to cancel their Facebook account over this, losing touch with folks), and I am trying to pay more attention to the companies that advertise on Myspace and go more out of the way to support them over Facebook advertisers. Nobody wants to cut ties with their friends but we don't want Facebook to cripple our user experience either so...hit em in the pocketbook and perhaps they will listen.

i agree with YJ, that this isnt representative, a poll sended to all facebook user would be more likely to be taken in consideration

rather than bring back the old facebook, it would be nice an option in the options of facebook, so each user choose wich interface they want, i like the new facebook, and it wouldnt be fair to people like us to be forced to come back to the old one, i like to not have to wait the eternal time tha take to load 155 apps in the old one

The new facebook is harder to use because everything is spread out, the news updates are often completely out of order with updates from a month ago near the top at times, and less secure because people who are not in my friends list can freely look at my profile without my permission. Fix this NOW!!

I'm having problems with not being able to access friend requests, I get constant emails telling em I have messages when I do not. The layout is NOT user friendly. It is no longer an enjoyable and accessable way to network.

I am very disappointed.

If people took the time to actually learn the new facebook I think they would get to like it. I have had no problems with it since the switch. I find it not so jumbled and the pages aren't so long. Everything is much more organized.

The new facebook ruined my whole profile. I had all of my applications laid out, and now i can't even find half of them. Its so slow and annoying to check out other peoples profiles. Please bring the new facebook back!

The new facebook takes forever to use and i have the hardest time finding the things i used to find in a snap in like 20 min! So unfair! i just HATE it!

Why change what works well ? The new facebook is not as much fun and takes longer to use.

After a cursory visit post FB hiatus, I was shocked to learn that my ex -- the one I dumped because he refused to marry me after five years- had shown up as a friend without my having given permission. As a social network, that makes me look completely retarded, something that reflects poorly on me in the eyes of the good friends that actually love and appreciate me. This may seem trifling, but when I learn of newer, cooler sites, it's enough to make me jump ship straightaway for greener pastures.

What is wrong with everyone.... the original facebook was a mess, and was way slower to download, this one is more organised, and i think you lot r all just having a hissy fit for nothing! if u actually take time out to look at the layout it is actually more user friendly, sure there are a few kinks, but i personally think having all the random applications in their own box is good, less mess, and if u all learnt how to used the old facebook in the begining when u joined it, why's it so hard to learn now... I think you're all just scared of change, all websites go through this, and i've seen it, they change for the better and a bunch of people behave like children cause they dont wanna learn and addapt... if we had to think of this as survival of the fittest, maybe facebook is just seeing all the spammer and people who use facebook for games rather then communication with their friends, and are going to FLUSH YOU ALL OUT!!! ha ha! cause when it comes to talking to your friends, this new facebook is much easier. they do have a few problems, but in general i think the new facebook idea was 1 of the best ideas, and you people should grow up, do any of u have jobs? tell me, if the boss decideds to do something different for the better of the company, do u all behave this way? cause if u do, i dont see your job lasting very long...

I see what you're trying to get at Bryan, but here's the fact of the matter: A whole pile of posts from people in the past week are not showing on my wall. At all. Not even a little.

I'm not disorganized. I'm insanely organized when it comes to technology. I'm a 3d animation student who's done hundreds of hours of tech support, web/graphic design, and have built my own computer.
No man, old facebook was disorganized but at least all functionality was easily located and logically consistent with how all other parts functioned. Now this is NOT the case.

I'm shocked at just how terrible this new look is. It's cluttered, it's broken, it's irrational and difficult to use, the clutter forces you to concentrate at trying to pick out the info you want... I don't want to come to facebook and concentrate closely in order to find what I want.

It's amazing just how bad it is, now. I mean, I understand wanting to update and move forward, but what the hell is this?

I have a bunch of people who, in the past week, have wrote on my wall. Those messages are simply not there. Took me quite a while to figure out that they weren't there, because I had to fight with my own facebook page to find it. Don't bother trying to give me advice on the matter. If I hit my own name to see my page my messages aren't on my wall. If I click on "wall" or "my wall" they're not there.

THe old facebook as horrible, it had everything crammed into one page and it was scrolling, scrolling scrolling scrolling, through useless applications, and hard to find what you were looking for, and while yes the new facebook is multi-paged, its more organized than EVER before, and if you want to find an application bottom left corner you can find it quickly and easily. The Reason People hate the new facebook is because 85% of people are misorganized, and can't understand organization, so when something like this happens there lost, now i'm not saying that everyone is going to like the new facebook, i'd support a system that gives users a choice to go between the old and new System, so in that way i do support the ones that do appreciate the old system, and to each person his/her own choice in the matter.

The only problem i have is the groups of whiny people, and the people that complain about the ads, well you want facebook up they have to pay for it, do you want to pay 10 bucks a month for this service to have it ads free? or do you want to keep it for free, and just put up with a few ads.

Anyway, thats my piece, in summery although i do support the new facebook, give the users a choice, because with any change not everyone is going to appreciate it.

i do not enjoy the new facebook for many reasons, here are a few: i can't control how long my applications are... meaning, i can't view all of my top friends, or view all my books. Why have these applications if you cant see them. You see none of the info about me anymore unless i flip through another tab, in which frankly i just have no time for! Its disorganized and very confusing. I am a picture person, and I am very unhappy with the new set up. And most of all, I HATE the ads that pop up on the right side. I quit Myspace specifically for that reason, and joined Facebook, because it had a reputation of being clean. I can't say the same thing now. Not everyone is enjoys sex being plastered everywhere, especially if there just trying to send a quick email and encouragement to a friend. Please change it back to the old facebook! You will make many, many happy. I know about 30 people who have already deactivated theirs accounts due to the inappropriate ads and the confusing set up.

I'm so angry not just because I prefer the old Facebook I signed on for and loved. And I'm so angry at not only having the New Facebook forced on me, but just for the total lack of care about how the users of Facebook feel by Facebook management. I'm converting to Myspace just in protest and I will be very open to another social network if one is developed just to show Facebook we do have a choice and a voice after all.

I personally don't mind the new Facebook, a lot of people like it. But, I think that they should give us the option of using new or old Facebook, like they do with MySpace. That way, everyone gets what they want, you know?

I have to say, this new format is so poorly planned out I cant believe it ever passed. I cant find my friends as easily and it has become so boring. No one cares that much about the mini-feed to have it as our main profile page. I think it is very cluttered and confusing now. It used to be clean and simple, and this is why we loved it. This is the equivalent of the GOOGLE page becoming the YAHOO page. Super lame. I canceled my myspace account to be solely facebook and this is what I get? A total mess. I absolutely hate the new layout.


It seems basic knowledge that you dont fix something that isnt broken. Facebook has the privilege of having MILLIONS of customers who were satisfied with the product. It seems just plain stupid to change a good thing. I wish I could do something more to fix this.

It took me like a half an hour just to figure out how to add a new photo when i would have taken me only a minute before with the original facebook. I hate this new facebook. Also when you look at peoples pages i hate how you have to click on different boxes to see the other parts of peoples profiles. Profiles were much better the original way. So with so many complaints why don't they just change it back. You would have to be stupid not to change it back.!

I don't have a my space space. I only had the facebook profile. Now to invite friends to my site is complicated for them. Who wants to flip pages to view profile?
I think someone wasn't busy enough, or was bored to tears to make these complicated changes. I don't go into facebook hardly because I don't even know where I'm at, and with no scrabble, what a mess. Bad buisness move.

i think the new facebook design is only going to hurt the site, not help it. there are so many people having so many "bug" problems, and i understand this is still in the beta phase but C'MON GUYS why mess with such a good thing? it's plain to see that people liked facebook for the way it WAS not the way it is now, and that is why facebook WAS more used than myspace but is now losing users by the day...

@Carol - Okay, So I am NOT fond of the new facebook. I am having trouble finding my way around and I admit that the wall and the mini-feed combined is a lot annoying, but I am not opting to COMPLETELY get rid of the new facebook. I know that some people like it, but I am saying that we should get freedom of CHOICE!!!! We should be able to choose whether we want the new facebook or the old. That way we are ALL happy.

P.S. My personal opinion is that they are trying to rip-off myspace. I don't have a myspace for a REASON!

I think the only reason they had to switch to this new format is because facebook has been declining for so long now, so many dumbass applications and clutter are everybody's pages that they needed to clean it up. Up until now I was still petitioning to change the "old" facebook back to the OLD old facebook.

I am new to facebook i started about a month ago and i just really got used to the old version of facebook. then they went and changed it and im all confused. the new layout sucks and i think they only did it cause myspace changed theirs.

To all those who say it's not user friendly:
It's just because you're not used to it. Once you've found where everything is, things will probably be more convenient.

To all those who just say the new facebook sucks, bring back the old:
At least give a reason, good or not. We've heard what you've had to say a thousand times before. Provide some backup for your opinion and maybe we'll care.

I personally have had zero spam, so I don't have anything in response to that.

I don't think the majority of facebook hates it. I'm sure many people jumped on the bandwagon without thinking, and that a lot of people who do like it just aren't the type to shout out.

The fact is it is relevant, people that hate this new fb aren't going to stay, people will continue to be annoyed with it and in the end fb is going to be the one to lose, they are going to see the number of users decrease, the number of new users decrease and people will move on. I hate the new fb and personally if it stay's this way I might just be getting rid of it, it's lousy, looks like pages off of a cell phone, it is in no way cleaner, simpler or any of that other bs they are sprouting out, the fact of the matter is they decided to change it without asking the users what they wanted. The NEW Facebook is a lot better. It's cleaner, nicer, more appealing, much faster, and way more user friendly. I love it. I figured things out right away. I even made a group in support for it. Facebook, please don't change just because a load of whiners can't accept your ideas for change. This happens every year. I remember when people complained about the "old Facebook" when it was new and wanted the one before it back. Just wait till next year when it changes again and see what they say then.

I've been using the new facebook for several weeks, now, and though I was initially skeptic and puzzled, I know think it's way much better than the old one... It takes a little time to get used to it, but it's actually clearer, easier to use and you have much more control on what you want to show and what you want to see...
So just take a little time to use it, and you might think the same eventually...

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. "New Facebook" isn't THAT far from the old version's layout. Yes, the tabs are annoying, and sure, my wall posts are now in my mini-feed. But what else is there that's so horribly, horribly wrong about the new layout?

If you don't like it, just send some simple feedback to the site admins saying "Oh, well, this is what you could do better." I mean, it's obvious that since the "new facebook" was meant to be just facebook in the future. It's change, and change is a basic part of life. I actually LIKE the homepage layout of new facebook. And as for my profile, my only REAL complaints (which some people here seem to lack those) are that I wish everything was on one page, and that I'd rather have the access options for applications come back.

It just seemed to me that a lot of people jumped on the "New Facebook Sucks" bandwagon, ever since the new version was first an option, and they don't have any REASON to hate it, except for the fact that they are afraid of what looks to be a permanent change.

The new Facebook is another example of the classic Second System effect. You take something smple that works perfectly and then try to make it more perfect by making it bigger and "better". Thumbs down.

Facebook was loved as a simple page displaying your personality to your friends, coworkers, family, and potential buddies. However, now it's a cluttered mass of pages and tabs. You used to be able to minimize apps, now you're stuck with them. When you want to see a certain app, chances are that the entire thing isn't showing on the profile anymore (ex. Bumper Stickers).

Remember how upset everyone was when the minifeed couldn't be minimized? multiply that by infinity and you'll get how upset everyone is about having the minifeed and wall combined into one. How is this better for us? Why would those need to be together in the first place?

A LARGE majority of the facebook community switched back to the old facebook when given the choice. Not because of a fear of change, mind you. It was a choice made by common sense. If you're given the choice between a favorite snack and a favorite snack that has been poorly produced, which would you choose? Obviously you would want the first choice, wouldn't you?

I'm not saying that I don't appreciate the work that went into facebook, or that you guys are all idiots. I'm just saying that people don't like being forced into something that they know isn't as good as what they were previously doing. Changes could have come about more slowly, more gradual. Why dump it all on us at once? Send out a mandatory facebook survey with a list of all the new features. See what's liked and disliked and have facebook changed accordingly based on popular demand.

Honesty, I am no fan of the new for many more reasons then simply "I hate change"
I ended up sending in a Feedback form on the new re-design. I urge the rest of you to strongly do the same if you feel (as the votes say) that Facebook should change the layout back.

Simply scroll to the top of the page where there used to be the option to change between New and Old Facebook. On the right hand corner there is a link that reads: Send Feedback.
And don't just write something like, "New Facebook sucks! Bring back the old!" Give the creators of Facebook some reasons and show them that we mean business.

I think that this poll is rigged. The majority of the people who would have noticed this poll are the people who were directed to it by their anti-Facebook friends. Not to mention the fact that the title of the poll is "Bring The Old Facebook Back". It's not fair to the people who put so much time into the new Facebook.

Hate to burst your bubble, but no matter how many people you get to vote, the results don't matter. Why? Because bad statistics don't matter. I'll try to summerize this, but to truly understand, you should take a stats course. Only the people who really truly care will vote, which causes a bias in the results. Also, the main people who found this website are going to be people who don't like the new facebook because this website is only posted on "I don't like the new Facebook" groups. Even if you get 10 million people to vote, it doesn't matter because the results don't represent the population.
