SpeedDate Pulls A Fast One. Buys HappyAppy

by Jason Wilk on September 13, 2008

  • 500,000 users of HappyApp apps on Facebook are confused after 3 of their applications overnight turned into a SpeedDate app.
  • Have you ever?, Romantic Gifts and Would You Rather? are the three applications that have been switched over to the SpeedDate app without notice.
  • There is heavy speculation that SpeedDate used some of the $6m it raised by Menlo Ventures last month to make this happen.
  • SpeedDate, just as it sounds, is a speed dating web site that send users on 3 minute online dates via webcam.

What will be the retention rate of these app users since their original concept had nothing to do with Speed Dating?
