Amazon vs Hulu

by Jason Wilk on September 4, 2008

  • Amazon and Hulu are both embracing online TV/Movie streaming to be the future of entertainment.
  • Hulu offers free online streaming of hundreds of network TV shows and Movies (both full length and clips)
  • They profit from selling 20 second ads which occur on average 4 times per TV episode and 8 per movie
  • Amazon’s new VOD service is offering 40,000 titles to be streamed, which is much larger than Hulu’s offering.
  • There are no commercials on these videos, but you will have to ante up $1.99 per TV episode or $3.99 per movie.
  • Amazon display size is bigger and crisper than Hulu, but their streaming is not as quality and they are charging too much for the service.
  • Amazon also has competition from NetFlix, iTunes among others.

Who will you choose to watch?
